Week 39 · September 21–27

Week Notes

Seven small sections for seven days

This week's goals

Keep it to four. Tick them off in your head, or change the list every Monday.

01 Monday September 21

Setting the shape of the week

Mondays are for deciding what matters and what can wait. I wrote the four goals above on a scrap of paper, taped it to the wall, and left the rest of the list alone.

A good week usually begins with one honest question: what would make this a success?

02 Tuesday September 22

The deep-work morning

No meetings until noon, so the whole morning went to the one project that has been quietly waiting. Two hours of real work beats a whole day of half-attention.

  • Draft finished, finally.
  • Phone stayed in the other room.
  • Coffee went cold, which is a good sign.
03 Wednesday September 23

A long walk with no headphones

The best hour of the week. I took the river path instead of the road and let the thoughts arrive on their own. Half of them were worth keeping, so I wrote them down when I got home.

Solvitur ambulando — it is solved by walking.

04 Thursday September 24

Admin, errands and small repairs

Not every day is interesting and that is fine. I answered the letters I had been avoiding, fixed the loose hinge on the cupboard, and returned the library books a day early for once.

05 Friday September 25

Tying up the loose ends

I closed as many open tabs as I could — on the screen and in my head. A short note to say thank you, a tidy desk, and a clear list waiting for Monday morning.

Leave the week a little quieter than you found it.

06 Saturday September 26

Slow start, good food

Markets in the morning, a long lunch, and nowhere in particular to be. I cooked far too much and it was worth every minute of the afternoon.

  • Bread from the corner bakery.
  • Tomatoes that actually tasted of summer.
  • A nap that lasted longer than planned.
07 Sunday September 27

Looking back, planning ahead

Before the week closes, read back over these seven notes. What should carry into next week, and what can be left right here? Then start a fresh page tomorrow.

Same seven sections. Same small goals box. A clean slate.
