The shelf registry
A tidy backlog for the books I keep meaning to get to.
Every reader keeps a private pile of good intentions. This page turns that pile into three honest columns: what I am reading next, what can wait its turn, and the hopeful maybes that may never happen at all.
How to use this template: open
index.html in Notepad and type over the book titles,
authors and notes. Each column is a plain list — delete a whole
<li> to remove a book, or copy one to add another.
All the colours, borders and spacing live in style.css,
with short comments to guide you.
A friend pressed this into my hands and told me to start it on a quiet weekend. It wants long, unhurried sittings.
Winter is coming, and so is this one. The borrowed copy is due back in three weeks, so it jumps the queue.
Short chapters, made for the train into town. I keep meaning to begin and keep forgetting to pack it.
Saved for the summer, when there is time to go all the way down the well and back again.
The big one. Everyone swears it rewards patience, so it waits patiently for a free fortnight.
History I only half know, kept for an evening when I want to feel small and curious.
Ambition outweighs sense, but every shelf needs one impossible book upon it.
Recommended twice, warned about once. The footnotes alone are a second book.
Reserved for a very long winter, a deep armchair, and no other plans whatsoever.
