Morning fog on the north shore
14 March 2024
I walked out before the light had made up its mind. The fog flattened everything into two or three tones, which is exactly what the camera wanted.
Photographs, and the few words that go with them
A quiet place to keep pictures and the notes that belong beside them — the frame, the film, the place, the thought.
Each entry below sets one large photograph next to a narrow panel of notes. As you scroll, the sides trade places: picture right, then picture left, so the eye keeps moving. It is a small rhythm, but it makes a journal pleasant to read.

Metered for the bright salt and let the sky fall where it liked. The horizon disappeared, so the picture became about texture instead.

A single window and a long exposure. Nothing in the room moved except the dust, and the dust is the part I keep looking at.

The safelight turns everything the colour of a memory. This was the last sheet of paper in the box, so the print is as much luck as skill.
Every word on this page lives in index.html; every colour
and space lives in style.css beside it. Open either file in
Notepad, type over what is there, save, then refresh your browser.
The photographs are not image files — they are CSS gradients in
the PHOTOS section of style.css. To use your own picture,
replace a gradient with background-image: url("your-photo.jpg");
(plus background-size: cover;) and the panel will fill with
it. Nothing here needs JavaScript. Add or remove an entry
block to make the journal longer or shorter.
