A club player’s notebook

Chess Notes

Recent games, study topics and the openings I keep returning to.

This is a small page for a chess hobby — somewhere to log the games I have played, the things I am studying, and the openings I trust. Black, white and a little tan: the colours of the board and the paper beside it.

Recent Games

A plain, display-only table. To log a new game, copy one row and type over it. Nothing here submits anywhere, so you can keep the whole record in one file.

Study Topics

Everything I am working on this month, in the order I would teach it to myself. Keep the list short; five honest items beat twenty vague ones.

  • Tactics. Twenty puzzles a day, forks and pins first, before any opening theory.
  • Endgames. King and pawn against king, then rook endings with a passed pawn.
  • Openings. The first twelve moves only — understand the plans, not the memorisation.
  • Positional play. Pawn structures and which squares a knight really wants.
  • Annotated games. Replay one classic a week and write a line about each turning point.

How to use this template

Open index.html in Notepad and type over any of the words. The table, the lists and the two columns are ordinary HTML, and the comments in the file point to each part. Colours, spacing and the little chessboard strip at the top live in style.css, sorted into sections you can find by name. Save the file, refresh the browser, and that is the whole workflow.
